The Consultant as an Anthropologist

In this session of the “Are You Ready for Performance Consulting?” series, Dr. Charlie Brown discusses the benefits of a consultant considering each performance setting as a unique culture.  The program looks at three primary performance domains: business, high-risk occupations, and the performing arts.  Dr. Brown guides the viewer through an examination of unique aspects of each domain, and information that a consultant needs to know about the culture of each.   The program compares and contrasts each domain on a variety of dimensions: the role of emotions; physiological aspects of performance; and attitudes towards consultants, plus examples of how common mental skills training techniques can be optimized for each performance culture. This program is part of the “Coach the Coaches” series at Get Your Head In The Game.  It is designed for psychologists, professionals and students seeking expertise in performance consulting.
